There is a certain grace that belongs to the dancer, the stillness before a movement, the curve of a hand, the rhythm carried through every gesture. Nartaki brings that grace to the loom, celebrating the female dancer as its central subject and turning the language of classical and folk movement into woven art.

Against a rich Plum ground, the body is punctuated by beautifully detailed figures of dancers, each captured in a poised stance with flowing attire and traditional ornamentation. The surrounding motifs seem to move with them, delicate forms, paisleys and floral details creating a rhythm across the saree rather than simply filling its surface. Warm Rust, Peach and muted Gold accents lend depth to the composition.

The saree is framed by bands of paisley-inspired and geometric Sambalpuri motifs, providing a structured counterpoint to the fluidity of the dancers. In the Anchal, the story becomes more elaborate, bringing the dancer together with elephants, floral vines and traditional decorative forms against a deep Coffee ground. Layered bands of motifs lead into the richly detailed border, completing the composition.

Woven in the Sambalpuri handloom tradition, Nartaki is a celebration of dance as both movement and expression. It captures something beyond the figure of the dancer, the grace, rhythm and quiet discipline that make dance an enduring part of India's cultural imagination.

A saree for those who find beauty in movement, and poetry in the way a story can be woven.
